Production capacity and orders

Expectation 06 asks you to accept only the orders you can fulfil with the people, machines and time you have, without secretly passing them on to others. SCDD compares the accepted work, from all clients, with the capacity of your lines, week by week.

What to do

  1. Open “Lines and closures” and add your lines: what limits them (machines or people), how many there are, the hours per day and the efficiency. SCDD shows you the calculation of working minutes per day.

  2. On the same page add the company closures: holidays, bridge days, patron saint days.

  3. In “Orders” enter the orders with their batches (pieces and delivery) and stages (line, minutes per piece, start and end).

  4. Before accepting a new order, save it as “Under evaluation”: the order page tells you in which weeks the lines would go over capacity.

  5. In “Production capacity” the red cells are weeks over capacity: open them and explain how you handle them, or move the dates.

  6. If you wish, show the load to the clients you share your dossier with: they see the percentages, not the orders.

A tip

Keep hours and efficiency realistic: inflated capacity hides exactly the overloads a client wants to see. An order declined because it did not fit your schedule works in your favour: leave it as “Declined”.
